Melbourne, my second home

Most of you might be thinking why I name this post 'Melbourne, my second home'. Well, this started 7 years ago when I first started my foundation studies at Melbourne. I was homesick during the first few months, until I met my 'gang'. Yes...my jolly group of friends from my foundation studies. Things would have been different had I not met them. I really thank God for giving me the opportunity to know them.

Melbourne is the place where I will really want to go back every year. Whenever I'm there, it feels like home to me. I might consider retiring at Melbourne next time..hah! Well, Melbourne is not only the most livable city in the world for two consecutive years for 2011 and 2012, but the state itself has tons of good restaurants, especially brunch spots. Too bad for me, or should I say good that I only started enjoying brunch when my fiance was in Melbourne.

When one is having a good meal, you can't simply begin and end without having ;
 A good cup of mocha?

Flat white?

Or even dark chocolate...and many more. These three are my top 3.

To all those skipping breakfast, this is something which might change your mind. Remember this...for eternity

If I'm not wrong...this was the Wagyu burger set which I had

And this was called 'The Leprechaun'. No, those are not Leprechaun balls, they're way too big. Wink wink..

Corn fritters, which I will one day try to emulate

Well, nothing beats an awesome dish of curry, prepared with lots of love during a cold cold day....

Burn all the meat!!

There was this hype going on in Sibu a couple of months ago, about a Naruto themed restaurant. I was so eager to drop by and have a nice lunch or dinner with my fiance, given that we enjoy BBQ meals, especially the Japanese or Korean style. Since it was Wesak Day , I made a booking to avoid any disappointment of having a full house upon reaching the restaurant.
Hmm..this mini BBQ pit is a little bit too tall. So you will actually have to stand up to 'panggang' your food
Yeap, they used real charcoal, which is good, instead of those powered by electric

Reminds me of Mount Rushmore

The restaurant was filled up mostly by teenagers upon arrival

Had the set for two (RM30). From left to right ; beef ribs, pork and chicken

Here's a closer look

Does not look like chicken to be honest. Thought it was fish or something else.

Cooking in progress

Almost done....soon....

That looks like one which is ready to be eaten

Restaurant decorated by all these sort of pictures
Plain rice....did not enjoy it. A little bit overcooked. Should have opted for butter rice.
Here's my verdict. The meat needs a little bit more seasoning.  Chicken was disappointing. Lamb was not bad. Best dish for me was the kimchi (RM2)

However, I will come back again, not for the BBQ, but for the steamboat at the second floor.

Sarikei in an Hour

I could not remember the last time since I blogged (but pretty sure it was back when I was in my first year of my University life). I've always loved food, just as much as everyone do. So, I've decided to start blogging again, but this time, starting my own food blog!

It's Wesak Day today, and I'm pretty sure everyone is taking a break, except for some hardworking employees and students who had to work/study. Chill, everyone....chill..

Anyway, my fiance and I drove down to Sarikei (40 minutes drive from Sibu) for one sole reason, to have this delicious roti bakar.
Roti bakar with kaya, peanut butter and margarine spread. Heavenly I'll say. Satisfying enough for breakfast. I can have this everyday! (well but it'll be bad for my waistline)

The coffee shop is run by a lady boss, presumably in her 60's I guess. A nice lady. Didn't manage to snap a picture of her though =D

This is the name of the coffee shop. A very old coffee shop as you can see from this picture.

The first petrol station in Sarikei! Can't find  a petrol station like this anywhere else....maybe

Sarikei's wet market

Hmmm..not sure what these are
A nice view of Sungai Rejang

Too shallow for anchor of course.

Sarikei's dewan suarah

Move aside, everyone! Pigs on a truck! Oink oink.

Well that's all I did during my one hour trip at Sarikei. More blog posts coming up!
